2 door rear seats

Hi I have a 56 splitscreen 2 door saloon are the rear seats the same throughout the years as my seat base doesn't seem to fit very well

A picture might help as the seats changed over the years. A 1956 later Series II should have a solid metal (with air holes) base with a thick dunlopillow foam pad and Straight (2 door) / curved seat back (4 door). This has voids underneath and the bottom can suffer from foam degradation - bits of foam on the carpet are a tell tale. The seats may have coloured piping or contrasting white piping .

I'm guessing the original seat has been swapped out at some point. As above, some pics may help.

Just re-read the OP and see that I missed the rear seat bit. My 1957 S 3 also had fit issues in the aperture but it need to be 'persuaded to go in. Fits well now but a sod to get out again. I think they were always wire framed, sprung and with a horsehair / material filling on top of the springs.

Apart from the different style of covers, I don't thing the seat base itself changed much over the years. The 2door and 4door have a different shape to them but apart from that I cannot recall any difference. They do require a bit of pushing and shoving to get them in and out sometimes!
