Shri Lanka patch panels

So I have been waiting for parts to come from a source in the UK and they finally came....I think they are called "wing flanges"???

They look good sitting on the floor...but that is where the good ends...

I at first tried to line it up on the existing quarter panel...nothing was even close...so I thought I was going crazy...

well maybe if I see if they will line up on the existing rear wing...

Not even close on the wing mounting holes...

So just a warning fellow Morris Minor folks...

Do not buy Shri Lanka patch panels for the rear wings...

So today I will be cutting it into several pieces and welding it into the existing rusted quarter panel

I have cobbled up many older cars over the years and this lack of quality control pretty bad...

I remember putting cab corners in a 1953 Chevy truck and they were from China and they fit better than these do...

Stay away from the company selling these patch panel...JUNK

Whilst it would be nice to have the parts replicated to BMC spec I consider the repositioned captive bolts on the Shri Lanka not to be a problem. Just weld up the holes in the wing and drill new ones to suit. Especially if you are replacing the whole 'wing panel'. Very similar operation to fitting fiberglass rear wings which do not have the fixing holes already drilled.

I don't know if it's the same Sri Lankan Morris Minor panel factory but..
the one I visited a few years back had this body in the middle of the unit.
It was their reference unit, against which they compared their various manufactured panels.

Thats kinda what is happening as we speak...

I am repositioning most all the threaded holes...

One less project before I get the project done...

To me that is making work - just drill the appropriate holes in the wing.
