Brake shoes…..

Post by Grumpy21 »

Never enjoy fitting brake shoes, I’m always perplexed by the conundrum; springs on first and try to fit them over the hub, or get them roughly in place and stretch the springs on last !

Yes, been there. I have found that springs on first is less stressful.

Hook the springs into the shoes, position lower shoe allowing upper to be pulled up into position.
Simples.

Have to say when I tried this today on the rear it was a right bu99er, easier to get the spring on after than get the shoes and springs over the hub!

For the rear springs in place except for the hook near where the adjuster will be, place around hub, position shoes into fixed pivot, hook spring, and insert adjuster. The seven inch fronts similarly except hook the last spring and then using the slot in the shoe, leverage the shoe up to insert adjuster, twice.
