1098cc/948cc engine/parts for rebuild to 998cc

Post by philthehill »

After some due consideration I have decided to put up for sale my accumulated parts for the 998cc rebuild I was hoping to undertake - but now fast approaching 80 years of age I have decided to let someone else take on the rebuild..
Please note: The sale of parts is to be sold in one lump. I am not prepared to sell separately.
The parts must be collected - I am not prepared to pack and send by post/courier.
The parts comprise:-
948cc engine block with crankshaft, rods, pistons.
1098cc engine block with crankshaft, rods, pistons and sump.
Note:- The 1098cc block with its white metal camshaft bearings can be rebuilt as a 998cc unit by fitting the 948cc crankshaft and 998cc Cooper rods.
qty 1 12G 185 cylinder head. This is a large valve head(same as 1275cc Cooper S) which will fit the 948cc/998cc/1098cc engines without modification. It is all there (assembled) but condition unknown as it has not been fitted by me but looks to be ok.
qty 1 set of NOS BMC 998cc dished top pistons with gudgen pins and circlips.
qty 1 set of used 998cc flat top pistons with gudgen pins and circlips.
qty 1 set of 998cc cooper fully floating con rods.
qty 1 MG Metro camshaft (with twin identification rings) in good condition.
qty 1 set of NOS BMC cam followers.
qty 1 set of used rocker push rods.
qty 1 used pressed steel rocker assy in excellent condition with a new thick wall rocker shaft fitted.
qty 1 948cc or 1098cc flywheel.
qty 1 upgraded NOS 9 spring clutch cover with useable driven plate. The 9 spring cover is from a 1100cc Triumph Spitfire but is suitable for the Minor 948cc flywheel..
qty 1 rear engine plate can be either 948cc or 1098cc dependent upon your requirements.
qty 1 NOS BMC steel duplex set up with chain.
qty 1 alloy MG metro rocker cover with NOS oil filler cap..
qty 1 alloy oil filter head and filter bowl or MG heavy duty spin on/off filter head.
qty 1 damper crankshaft pulley in good condition.
qty 1 useable oil pump in good condition..
qty 1 front engine plate.
qty 1 timing chain cover with neoprene seal.
Qty 1 set of 'A' Plus head studs and nuts.
Various nuts and bolts etc.

I am located in Hampshire about 17 miles north of Southampton.
Price for the above £500.
If interested PM me for further details etc.

Yes it has somewhat - but I have come to the conclusion that I cannot do everything.
I have also got a 1400cc 'A' Series to rebuild with lots of special parts I have accumulated over the years and time just seems to disappear.
I am certain I had more time available before I retired. :-?

I agree with your sentiments Phil, dare I say it’s an age thing. With many projects down the years, it’s more appealing to tinker now, with less things on the go. Good luck with the engine, I too will shortly be rebuilding a 1275 S for a friends Mini, it’ll be like going back years ! I’ll be taking my time and enjoying it.
