Fuel boiling

Post by Minormug »

Fitted a home made shield which helped but not stopped the problem. Think a fan directed at the fuel pipe/carb base is best solution. Would a Spal 132mm fan likely be suitable please.

The Grumpy heat shield kit has two shields, one for the carburettor float bowl and the other for the rising metal fuel pipe that goes to the fuel pump. Routing the flexible fuel pipe along the inner wing keeps it away from the heat and it is also safer I would suggest as a leak is less likely to make contact with the hot manifold.

I had problems with fuel vaporisation and after fitting the Grumpy kit the problems have gone away completely, even in the 36 C + in France driving hard up hills and at a fair old pace.

I ran it behind the wiper motor and cable tied to the strengthening plate.
