Boot lid seal direction ?

Hi!
So my 58 came without a boot lid seal, leaking a little water in there, I bought a seal that is intended to go to the car body (to September 64), not the lid (BLF108A at Morris minor spares).

It fits well, no problem, but it is not symmetrical, it has a higher lip on one side, so question is what direction to put it ? I cannot find anything about it in the workshop manual, it looks like the high quality image included , anyone know if the higher part of the seal goes inwards to the trunk area or outwards to the metal lip of the lid ?

Mine is pointing outward. Assuming the theory is the same as a lip seal where the item being kept out possibly enforces the seal as opposed to more easily opens the seal if the seal was reversed.

I had a similar issue, Basil had a 'seal' fitted when I brought him, but it was some unknown item with entirely the wrong profile and as much use as the proverbial Chocolate Teapot.

I fitted it with the higher side inboard, simply because the other way around the top edge and corners caught on the boot lid as it lowered pushing it out of place and pinching it. Even then, the top right corner of the boot lid, near the hinge still snagged on it, so I had to gently tweak it out a little with some pliers.

Thanks for the input, I tried both ways and I ran into the same problem as geoberni when having the higher end outwards (seal catching on lid lip), so I will try the other way and see if that works out well.
