Fitting traveller wood frame

I am about to fit the timber frame to the car do you need to put a seal between the b post and the wood frame I had a look at a couple of travellers one had a black mastic type seal the other nothing

Any original frame that I have seen has the sealant, just as any of the other wood to metal contact points.

Originally dum dum was used. It never really fully sets.which is ideal for the traveller wood
If you Google dum dum sealant you will find it. Don't forget to add the word sealant or you will get some very different results....
From memory Dum Dum is applied up the B posts, around the arches and under the ladder that's under the back doors. Affectively anywhere the wood touches the steel.

I know DUMDUM was used on the production line but there are better alternatives now. When I removed my old wood the DUM DUM had indeed dried out and was cracking. I now use black Gutter seal from a tube. That seals permanently and is easier to apply. I know it's not as original, but unless you are building a concourse example keeping the water out is paramount.
