Tyres

I had Toyos fitted to my Traveller 2 years ago when I bought it. Now I m finally getting some mileage in I ve decided they are not very good! Its not handling I m worried about but roadholding. On quite moderate slow bends in warm weather the back tyres squeal very easily. Cant imagine what it would be like in the wet. front ok though ,fortunately , but the only available alternative is Nankangs which are on order. Unless anyone knows of others please?

Blockley tyres get many recommendations from Minor owners. I have Toyos on my convertible and they seem fine to me although my days of pushing the car into corners are long gone.

Camac are available in the 145/14 size.

We will be going Blockley 145r14 on the pickup soon.
We have Blockley 145r23 on the Midget after having a set of Camacs for the last 20 years. The old Camacs looked like new when they came off but I didn’t want to risk such old rubber on longer journeys. The Blockley’s are a much better ride than the old rubber but as lap have made the Speedo more accurate. They must be closer in diameter to the original cross ply’s. The tread pattern on the Blockley’s and Camacs both look correct.
If you have VC s local fitter I would very much recommend ordering a set of Blockley Tyres. They are very helpful on the telephone and provide their own wheel bands and inner tubes if needed.

I have only done about 300 miles on my new Blockley 145x14.
Well pleased with them so far.

I have Blockleys as well - much quieter and a smoother ride than the old tyres

I was disappointed with Toyos on my Minor 1000 and soon had them replaced with Bridgestones. A big improvement. I drive my Minor fairly hard and give the tyres a good workout. When I needed to replace the Bridgestones I purchased Blockley tyres and have been delighted with them. Very similar characteristics to the Bridgestone tyres which I'm not sure are available now? Camacs are no better than adequate and are seemingly more expensive than the superior Blockleys. Choice is limited in the standard size of 145/80/14 but I have found the Blockley tyres to be very good.

Blockley's without a doubt! By far the best I've had on a Moggie and great service too.

I had camac on cars years ago
was told they are polish uniroyals.

Camac tyres come from Portugal I think. Nothing to do with Uniroyal which were very decent tyres.

I recently had a set of Blockley tyres fitted and cannot praise them highly enough. The ride is much improved. Time will tell how they wear but given the mileage that I and probably most owners do, I think age will be the determining factor when it comes to replacement.

I had Bridgestones previously and I thought they were good.....until I got the Blockleys.
