Position of gearbox filler and steering box greased position?

Post by JaneH »

Having recently bought my Morris 1000 with sound proofing stuck down over the tunnel, can anybody give me the position on of
the two access points measured from the bottom of the gear stick??? I can then cut a suitable hatches to allow access. Many thanks. Ian

I think you’ll find the opening for access to the grease/oil nipple for the rack is on the left hand side of the floor pan where it sweeps up at an angle. Depending on the type of soundproofing you have, maybe you could push around and find the grommet that fits the hole for access to the gearbox filler. It’s on the left hand side of the tunnel, it’s about 2 1/2 inch diameter.

Thanks Les for your info which allowed me to locate my filler nut. The next quest is for the steering rack grease nipple. Ian.
