Ex Met panda project

Hammer and screwdriver at the ready, I went to see an ex-Met Police Minor, local to Uttlesford. It is a former MPS car, from the VRM, and the owner has a V5 in his name

The current owner bought it quite a few years ago as a project but other projects and family issues got in the way. It has been dry stored. He has run out of storage space for his other projects and hence needs to sell, he as a reserve in mind but would be open to sensible offers. The car is eminently salvageable and may be of particular interest to those interested in Police Minors.

I am happy to pass on the owner's details to those seriously interested. I have lots of photos of the issues on the car.

The rear NS wing is off the car but salvageable, as the corrosion at the front end was investigated. The wheel arch has some holing, but nothing horrendous.

Rear spring hangers and boot interior look solid but front spring hangar areas are in need of repair / replacement.

The boot lid has some bubbling at the bottom. Boot floor looks solid

Main floor looks solid, as are interior sill areas. The cross-member has been well replaced but without the jacking point ends.

Front door bottoms have bubbling. Front wings are pattern replacements but do not look to have been treated before fitting.

OS chassis leg has a large hole. NS chassis leg has evidence of repairs and the NS engine bay tie plate is holed where the NMP plate once was.

Both inner wings seem sound and esp around the bump stop areas, but the A post bottoms and likely the interior are corroded / holed on both sides.

Interior is worn - rear seat looks ok , but front seats have seen some wear. Zip evident in the roof lining and grommet in the roof for light box.

A replacement 1098 cc engine has been fitted with a very odd carb and exhaust and the owner tells me it runs well,

All engine ancillaries are present and it has an alternator conversion.

Oddly, a wind tone horn is fitted to the ns inner wing. No trace of a bell, if one was ever fitted.

Exterior chrome seems in remarkably good condition. The rear bumper valence is fibreglass.
