Torsion bar bushes and eyebolt

If I were to take our car along to a garageman who knows his way around our MM, how many hours labour could I expect to replace torsion bar bushes and possibly eyebolts etc?

Two hours a side maybe?

Also, rubber or poly? I don't do much mileage.

Probably best to ask the place you intend to get the job done, otherwise it’s only guess work. Poly bushes are a good option for the chassis eye bolts.

Two hours at the most per side.
Poly bushes are better than the after market rubber bushes supplied today.
Fit grease nipples to the eye bolts and grease the eye bolt bushes on a regular basis. Also fit poly bushes to the top trunnion eye. A grease nipple can be fitted to the underside of the top trunnion eye as well.

I agree with Phil. The only rider is how well or poorly the car has been maintained and how close to original are the new parts. Complications can arise: rusted/seized bolts/nuts. Eyebolt seized in chassis leg, new leg needed, previous replacement leg has incorrect size tube which means new eye bolts do not fit and need fettling. Not being pessimistic, just things that I have found over the years.

The two hours max per side should give some wiggle room but there are a lot of unknowns as simmitc points above and you should be prepared for additional charges if additional work is found/required.

We'll get it up on his lift and have a good look first. Apparently he did the job on a Wolseley not that long ago. It will be sensible to get him to confirm my diagnosis.

Knowing (or not knowing) our car I will plan for the worst
