Door lock

I have a four door saloon with only a lock on the driver s side. Whilst the car was in for mot and service part of the mechanism in the door handle broke. They repaired it garage fixed it but I’m unable to lock the door. Some years ago I hadHyekee locks fitted to the boot ignition and drivers door. On making enquiries I have been told by a locksmith for vehicles in Essex that they no longer do Hykee locks. The key I have operates the boot and ignition ok but not drivers door. The garage were unable to fix the locking mechanism. So my fellow MM any thoughts would be much appreciated.Mike

Fit a new lock barrel and key to the door, my 4 door had the lock replaced so now different key to boot/ ignition. I ground a notch in keys handle to make id easy even in dark

I'm aware of Hykee Locks, but associate them with vans for works use....

I suggest you contact Garrison Locks as they appear to be the Supplier/Distributor.

Though from what I've been reading just now, Hykee seem to be out of fashion, as they have problems with jamming after a few years of use.
Perhaps that's why your locksmith doesn't do them any longer....

For those that don't know them, this is a Hykee Lock.

Is that fitted into the door handle? I've only seen those security type lock as additional in doors as Berni says on vans.

Hi the Hykee is fitted into the door handle. Have contacted that locksmiths you mentioned as with others o have contacted Hykee has been discontinued and no parts available. ESM have no door handles in stock. Would it be easy to remove Hykee and replace with new barrel and lock and key.

I guess the answer to that is what if anything was altered to get the HyKee in to start with....

Hi I had someone replace the old door locks, I was not present when this was done. Is there a blow by blow instructions on MM website to remove the drivers door handle. From looking they say you have to take the window frame/ quarter light out to remove the door handle. Is this correct? TIA Mike

Rewinding a little, the lock was working until "something broke" and the garage fixed it. Questions: what broke and how was it fixed? Is it possible that the Hykee is still capable of operating correctly, but something else is preventing it?

As above, it depends on what was done to fit the HyKee, but from what I remember, it basically replaced the original barrel, and so reversing that means taking the lock assembly out of the door, drifting out the barrel retaining pin, remove the HyKee and then fit a standard barrel. Simple enough (although stripping the door to remove the lock assembly can be fiddly) but if the problem is elsewhere then the standard barrel may not work either. Sorry, but a proper examination of the components is required to make a diagnosis.
