Window winding mechanism

Hi I have been trying to fix drivers door lock and in doors so I have undone some bolts regarding the winding mechanism after attempting this. I cannot get the four bolts that hold the winding handle to line up and if I do they are not near end to fix them in bolts in. I have not fixed the door locking. Any advice or diagrams that clearly shows how the mechanism for the widow goes. I have looked at three MM books for workshops and cannot find it helps. Help TIA Mike

Have you got the quadrant arm correctly engaged in the window lift channel?

Have you looked at the Body Service Parts Manual for the exploded view?

Search online for AKD 3542 free pdf download. You should find it in several online resources.

Hi I’m unable to line up the winding mechanism to bolt it to the door, the holes on the end of the mechanism are not the right way round it came off ok. I have placed the sliding part of the winding mechanism into the channel of the window glass. But the holes do still not get alined for bolting onto the door. Any ideas TIA

If its engaged in the window track, have you tried lifting or lowering the glass. Also if you put the handle on the splines and rotate it it should change the mounting orientation if the glass is not moving.

If it came out OK, it should go back in OK. Note that the window is meant to be wound down to extract the winder, so it should go back in with the window down. It all may need a bit of wiggling about, as Bill suggests.

Hi,
Thanks again, I eventually got the winding mechanism back discovering that the cog in the winder was not connecting with the window winding arm teeth. Doh!
All back together, I was unable to fix the hykee door lock, so hopefully the garage can do that. I found an old technical tips pages, which helped although it said take the winding mechanism out at bottom of the door, this didn’t work but it came out of the top. Thanks guys. Mike had a few of these.

Me too - these things often need a bit of jiggling about to get right!
