Recommendations for rebuilt engine

Hi All,

Just had to take the engine out of my moggie. Has completely seized. Was fine one day and wouldn't budge the next. I also managed to strip the thread off of the pully/starter bolt and can't get it out. Anyway considering the multiple failures I've had previous to this I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and getting a rebuilt engine. Does anyone have any recommendations for suppliers? I've seen a company called classic machine shop on ebay who look to have good feedback but the prices seem very high to me, anyone had any experience with them?

What happened to the starter dog (which is also the crankshaft pulley nut)? I am not sure how it can have a stripped thread? The usual way to buy a new engine would be on an exchange basis on the assumption that the exchange engine is at least good enough to be rebuilt.

I think "Classic Machine Shop" and "MCCS Engineering" are one and the same company. I have not heard anything negative about them. I believe quite a lot of the customers at Morris Minor Workshop have used engines by this company. So I was told on my last visit there. All I heard was the fast road versions tend to pink (pre-ignite) due to the increased compression ratio and need careful ignition timing set up.

I have been looking at MCCS Engineering to have my engine rebuilt next year when I am further along with the restoration. So would be very interested to hear about who you use and how you get on.
