I am more concerned to hear that production of Gentleman's Relish (Patum Peperium) has ceased. That really IS a disaster.

Richard Spurr on about this night before, sounds revolting, plain bounty & roses lime marmalade going too.

Glad I'm nearer death than my 21st!
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

It does sound a bit revolting but actually many people like it including me. Not enough people evidently. An acquired taste certainly. Worcester Sauce sounds absolutely vile if you know how it is made but where would a cottage pie be without it?

I'm a veggie, thought of what animals go through when beans on toast/scrambled egg or cheese on toast just as good.

It's not a little bit wrong, it's all MASSIVELY wrong!

Me too Chris.
Animal agriculture is responsible for huge amouints of methane.....worse greenhouse gas than C02, but luckily it does not stay in the atmosphere so long.

Cue some smart@rse making a joke about vegetarians and methane.

Another poor horse dead at Aintree, how about chasing short-a@&ed jockeys around a racecourse, making THEM jump hurdles & whipping THEM when they don't go fast enough...

Horses are just a commodity to those people and of course to those who support the ‘sport’. They don’t think about much else when money is involved, a lack of empathy.

Much like LCVs, long gone the good fun days of cheap daily transport for young students, van's well used & barely held together, 40yrs THEY are commodity"s & fetching silly money.

Or even an LCV. :D

I was thinking the other day about my minor being from 1968, and the Saturn 5 rockets that claimed to go to the moon being from the same era. As I have said before....there is no need for all this testing of the Artemis rocket. If the Saturn 5 rockets were so successful, why not just build some more of those? The Saturn 5 rockets were the Morris Minors of rocketry. They successfully put men on the moon 6 times didn't they?

If my mission was to drive 2 miles down the road to get some shopping and safely return that shopping back to my house; I can do it in my morris minor, or a £50,000 Range Rover. I still get the shopping home in my minor.

I remember seeing a programme with Clarkson years ago. He was with a couple who wanted a black Range Rover. Their young daughter liked horse riding. Clarkson offered them a deal. They could have a brand new citroen estate, plus a horsebox, plus a horse, plus a field rented for 5 years, all for the same price as a black Range Rover. They still chose the black Range Rover. Some people are stupid.

Almost every Range Rover I see...the driver is on the phone. Sometimes you don't even have to look closely....the Range Rover just stays where it is for a few seconds after the traffic lights change...as the driver finishes texting. Morons.

I do my best work in the morning.

I had a little dog who trained me to get up very early. He is gone now....but he trained me well for years, and now I can't not get up early. :o

Less dangerous than in a Minor, I mean if we're going to use the technology of the time just think how long the phone cable would have to be and the potential trip hazard to pedestrians! :o

I (^) was taking my Mothers modern car (since long gone) to the garage (.), came to a T-junction (the garage directly opposite) and had a Range Rover (=>) block the road wanting to turn right into the road I was in (normal roads, not single track etc).

Code: Select all

    .

I thought maybe they'd spotted something coming down the road I couldn't see, so I waited patiently as they sat staring into the distance.

Then I thought, maybe I was over the give way line slightly and they weren't sure they could make the turn so I planned on rolling backwards, but as soon as I started moving the driver beeped his horn, took the turn and gave me a very dirty look as if I'd done something appalling.

The whole area, up the road in the distance, down the other road, and both round the garage and behind me was devoid of any signs of life.

Strangest experience I've had driving.

If you can trade futures on oil due to war then with no consequences you can make money out of anything. War, climate change, illness, someone will be making money out of every and any disaster.

The quote from Herman E Daly is 'The economy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the environment, not the reverse'.

There is a super El Nino forming, with drought and record temperatures likely.
Not good fro GDP.

Have cars like Minor's, repair & fix cheaply, or modern stuff where a wet belt ruins the engine & its cheaper to scrap the whole car, electric cars mining lethal elements (by children) & disposal of batteries AND electricity coming from power stations....

Which is best for the enviroment?

I think Charles Ware's Morris Minor centre had a sort of 'mission statement' that got them a Green Apple award for sustainability.
