I am currently rebuilding a Minor 1098 gearbox- the 1st gear is very tired (22a460) but i have an excellent midget example (22g1119). Does Anoyone know if they are interchangable?
I am assuming they are not as they are different part numbers, but they look identical on 1st inspection. I note a couple of web sites indicate they are interchangable.

Re: 22g1119 vs 22a460 1st gear Sprite/Minor gearbox
I have got the 1st gear for the Minor listed as 22A426. AEA3023 for the 948cc Sprite/Midget. 22G257 for the 1098cc Sprite/Midget and 22G118 for the 1275cc Midget/Sprite.
The ratios for the 1st gear are listed for the Mk 1 Sprite as 3.627. For the Mk 2 & 3 Sprite /Midget Mk 1 & 2, as 3.2. For the Sprite Mk 4 / Midget Mk 3 is listed as 3.2.
On the face of it the 1st gear from the 1275cc Midget should fit but physically check the measurements of both gears before trying to fit.
