Traveller wiring loom

I am in the process of loosely fitting a new loom to my 69 traveller were does the loom to the rear of the car come up into the car and I presume the single green wire is for the internal light

The rear loom runs underneath the car and enters the rear behind the rear seat. One the far right hand side in the corner of the luggage area. A fairly large hole with a rubber grommet in it. The single green wire is for the petrol tank sender unit.
The wiring for the interior light plugs into the loom in the dashboard area and is purple.

Get yourself a good wiring diagram (factory workshop manual?) to help you follow the wiring colours. As a general rule any wired which are basically green will be ignition fed. The horn and interior light have a permanent live feed and they are purple from the second fuse in the fuse box.

Most of fitting a new loom is straightforward. The only bit that is more difficult is making connections correctly to switches. If you download a PDF copy of the workshop manual you can enlarge the parts of the wiring diagram you need. Then you can see the terminal numbers. Or, assuming the old loom was working properly, you can cut the wires leaving short pieces still connected. That way all you have to do is disconnect that cut old wire and replace it with the new connection whilst following the wire and trace colours.
