Choke Cable Connection

I have an ex mini HS4 carb fitted and working well. I think the choke cable route would work better if connected via the ferrule on the carb body , red arrow, rather than the one on the steel plate, yellow arrow. It works OK at the moment but is somewhat stiff. Also not sure why there appears to be these two options.

Yes red option, more of a 90 degree angle.

I would suggest that the choke operation is stiff because the operation is at the wrong angle. The choke cable would work better and easier if fitted through the red marked housing.
Why there are two mountings I do not know but as it is a modification the operating cable mount plate could be a plate that was not original to the current carb.

I think the red route is the correct one , it is the one used on my 1968 traveller. The bracket being used for your throttle cable may be from a different vehicle (possibly with twin carbs ? ) or a universal fitting.

Thanks all, you have confirmed my thoughts. The plate came with the carb but I don't know the original set up. A nice little job for me tomorrow

Just come across a photo of the choke arrangement for the HS4 and the choke cable is indeed passed through the red housing.
The carb throttle plate is different so as suspected the throttle plate is not matched to the carb.

As above and the choke cable seems way too long and wrapped round the operating levers. Suggest fitting it correctly and then cutting it to an appropriate length. A little solder will prevent the cut end from fraying.

The cable looks to be fitted correctly but the wrong choke cam fitted see attached diagram. The carb looks like the right hand one off a twin setup as the spindle nuts are correct for that set up so who knows what's fitted most important bit is it works.

Thanks, I think my carb had been mixed and (mis)-matched by a previous owner
