Hey all
Submitted new thread as commented on one and its like 20 years old....eeeek
Have an already converted maestro engine that was running a rwd a40 on 1098 box
About to fit in mr Mogg

Got 4 more bolts coming so.all.be same size
Unsure if there a tab lock for bolts

Hello poss angle? Its simirar to my 1098 that has a hif38 and lcb

That flywheel (originally 4 bolt) set up appears to be similar to the ESM conversion flywheel with the centralising centre bush/spacer.
I suspect that those two different bolts may be 5/16" dia instead of 3/8" dia.
Interesting that it appears to have three rear engine plates and not the Maestro seal carrier housing.
A photo of the rear end of the crankshaft with the flywheel removed would be appreciated.
The exhaust manifold appears to be a MG Midget/Sprite item which will fit the A40 but there is insufficient room between the engine and chassis leg on a Minor for the pipe to pass down and through without modification.

Hello it only came with 4 bolts i bought 2 from esm but same thread different head and my ocd kicked in so 4 on order from esm
Im not sure if there a locking tab for them
The settup came from a a40 with 1098 box ill be selling the manifold as have lcb and system on my 1098

Looks like an interesting conversion, although you'll need to find another thermostat housing or rotate it so it joins with the Minor radiator. Now, that's a long dipstick you have there!

I currently have an ex-Maestro 1.3 HIF44 carb and alternator on my Traveller's 1275cc MG Midget engine, which have run very well on it for years; I bought them from an old Uni chum who's wife's Maestro got rear-ended and written off.

Housing prob on tge pi$$ as is placed on as was timing chain cover with cable ties
Was bought supposed to drop in but silly things missing like bolts
How do you find it? Gotta be an improvment to my 1098 hee hee

Hello can anyone please tell me if the flywheel bolts have a locking tab ive looked everywhere and the 1275 not fit

Well I don’t know the answer. However I would not be happy without lock washers.

Make your own lock washers, depends on how happy you feel without !

Have on my gs brake disks they have six that consist of 3 pairs so will do similar

You already have a locking washer fitted!
The washer already fitted and shown in the photo above can be used as the lock/tab washer - just knock the edges up against the flats of the bolt.
The torque setting for the 1275cc flywheel bolts is 40lbf ft but I would set them to 45lbf ft as you do not have any locating dowels or register other than the insert into the centre of the crankshaft.

Hello there is a piece of metal bt doesnt look like its got enough meat on to bend back on itself maybe it has

I can assure you that there is plenty of meat on that locking washer. Just use and knock up the tab against the appropriate flat of the bolt head.
I have also found a photo of the rear end of a Maestro crankshaft. The flywheel should have 6 bolts and 1 dowel. The dowel has been deleted for this conversion. It looks as if the centre of the rear face of the flywheel has a raised register so possibly not fitted with the ESM centralising bush. That raised centre will help keep the flywheel concentric even without the dowel.
