Headlining

The headlining I have to use has a small tear about 2 inches long, can these be repaired does anyone know.\?

Also what is the best way to clean it before putting it in the car, thinking a vax carpet cleaner may work, or do they normally need the attention of a soft nailbrush? any recommended cleaning solutions.

There are some for sale on ebay, or the usual UK suppliers ESM etc.
But given your ZL callsign I imagine in New Zealand, or you have a base too in the UK ?

A small tear can be repaired using good quality gaffer tape on the reverse side...

Possibly you could slip the gaffer tape through the split and then push the headlining to stick it, not sure if this would work but I mention it because if you go the route of removing the headlining to repair it, I was once warned by a restorer that depending on the age of the headlining (e.g. if it's still the factory fitted one) it can crumble into pieces on removal and then a new one would need to be sought.

Though you say "before putting it in the car" so maybe it's already out?

I had a small tear in the rear headlining of my Traveller. It was off the car anyway, so I got a small patch of repair material from Newton Commercial and glued it on. It's not a perfect match but it's not far off.

Thanks for all the input, its off the car so now is the time to sort it.

Has to stay off the car until the vehicle is re-certified, no trim at all makes their job that much quicker and easier.
