Heater valve

My car is the later model fitted with the valve operated from inside the cabin.
I bought a new one around 18 months ago, its leaking already from the sliding spindle.
Recently, coincidentally, I was told the new ones offered now are suspect cheap imports, as is the case regarding so many parts these days.
Can anyone advise a higher quality unit ?
Or should I revert to the old fashioned manually adjusted under the bonnet type?

Even they come with their problems, again some are cheap rubbish that fail quickly.

Had to change mine due to not fully closing rather than spindle leak on the 1st. Now tried one of the off set ones from ESM. OK
so far but time will tell

Thanks for the replies, I will see if Tom Roy can get me a better quality item, I dont live far away and can collect, I think I will attempt a strip down of the old unit, if it is just a naff seal between the body and the sliding spindle I may be able to do something with it.

I fitted a modern(ish) VW in.line one works fine only issue is it oprrates in tje reverse of ths standard one.
