Parcel shelf trim

Post by woodypup59 »

What padded trim goes along the edge of the parcel shelf on a 64 minus saloon. Can you show me some pictures please.

Also what colour speedo should it have bronze face (80) or black face (90 mph).

Thanks

I bought the padding kit that geoberni linked to, but never used the actual padding in the end.

So, if you're interested in just the padding I could sell you mine, PM me if you're interested:

I used this with black vinyl material from local fabric shop glued on. https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Pipe-In ... 44944367a4

There were a lot of changes in 1964. My '64 car had a cream coloured parcel shelf and gold faced speedo.
I think October '64 saw the black faced speedo and black parcel shelf - along with toggle switches and the later heat formed seat covers.

Is yours a duotone interior?

Both our cars are duotone and have the cream parcel shelf, fleck crashpad and roof liner and gold/bronze speedo, they're also both Deluxe models and duotone was 62-64 so just wondered if that was why your 64 had them.

My 1964 car was built early in the year - April - so the specification was correct for that age: Gold faced speedo, cream parcel shelf, pull switches and pull starter, open glove boxes among other things. The duotone interior was introduced late in 1961 and signifies "De-luxe" specification. A standard car would have all the same dashboard details but a single colour for the seat covers and door trims.
Cars from late 1964 had an updated interior and dashboard layout which carried on largely unchanged until the end of production.
