hydraulic clutch conversion help.

Hello all, as I am fitting a 13 mazda engine nto my moggy with a 5spd box I am needing to convert me car to a hydraulic clutch. Is there a pedal box that will allow an easy-ish fitment of this or do I need to dig real deep and gop for an off the shelf wilwood type bias pedal box?

It might be worth exploring the Birmingham (assuming you're in Britain) Minor Centre's Hydraulic clutch conversion kit - it retains the original pedals.

A pleasure - enjoy your spending. Probably worth a chat with Jonathon at JLH minors as well, I don't think he does a hydraulic kit, but he knows his stuff when it comes to engine swaps. And Minors in general, come to that...

As I am running the 13b engine and the turbo II factory 5 speed I was thinking that any kit meant for the type 9 box would not work? And yes I have had a chat with jonathon from JLH and happy to have spent some money with him. Living so far away from most workshops you take a certain leap of faith when buying htings site unseen. You simply look for those that are the most recomended. JLH were very helpfull and didnt mind spending time for a chat even when I knew that there time was valuable to them.

Just out of interest, what Mazda did you get the engine out of?

Micheal,

The Ford hydraulic kit is designed to be used for most applications not only the Type 9. The only stumbling block may be attatching the slave cylinder to the box. If you could send pics of the set up I'm sure we can sort something out. Note this kit is for use with the standard pedal set up only.

I got the engine out of an fc egi. Or as we say in oz a n/a series 4.
I have a slave cylinder for the box already so would only need the master cylinder and modified new clutch pedal. Oh and the line from master to slave. But as The box is not yet in the car so the length could be made up later. Also i would like to keep the original pedal set up.

Cheers for that, and yes I did see his disc brake conversions but have already sent off my hubs(escort ones) for machining so that i can run standard capri vented discs and calipers.

Hi, I have never seen that before but it seems really intersting. Unfortunantly not too much info on the motary though.
I am still unsure on what to do about a hydraulic clutch as i have just spent my monthly pocket money on a 48mm side draft dellorto and manifold for the engine.
