Wing mirrors

Convex glass makes a BIG difference. I have always found my wing mirrors a great help but they do need to be adjusted correctly

Which is one of the problems with wing mirrors. Mine are well adjusted and work very well for me but to adjust them needs a spanner and either repeatedly getting in and out of car or two people......Wing mirrors are not well suited to cars driven regularly by different people

My wing mirrors are like panky's and easily adjusted by hand. No spanner involved

Mine have to be done with a spanner, if they're loose enough for finger tightness then you'll lose them when they unscrew and fly off.

Also, I've always preferred flat mirrors on the Minor when driving as opposed to convex etc.

What is the reason or folklore behind mounting wing mirrors so far forward, in front of the tires? I can’t even see the passenger side mirror over the bonnet. The distance reduces the field of view. My previous truck’s mirrors were attached to the doors. They provided a good view and were easy to adjust. They did limit the opening of the vent windows somewhat.

I don't know about the "folklore" aspect, but, when properly adjusted , my wing mirrors show almost the whole length of the car on either side.
I also have another mirror attached near the driver's side quarterlight.

They are called "wing mirrors" because they're mounted on the wing I believe it was because in early days they only had flat mirrors not convex so mounting further away gave a wider view.
But that could be folklore or plain BS

It’s a minor (no pun) issue compared to the lack of brakes but now that Im able to drive the truck I find that the wing mirrors are useless. The driver side is blocked from view by the inspection and registration stickers. The passenger side isn’t even visible over the bonnet from my driving position. I realize now that one of the perks of my previous right hand drive truck was the stickers were out of my line of sight. Guess I’ll have to drill some holes.
