Well today I stumbled across mention of the earliest CKD cars literally being cut down to the level of the inner wings.
Hence why the extra strap on the firewall.
The mention included a link to film of highlight MM at the Dutch Assembly plant, around 1950.
About 1:50, you can clearly see the lower part of the car cut off to about knee level in the passenger compartment. Not to any of the expected break points of panels in the 1000 Parts Lists.
Perhaps that's the difference, could it be that only MM/early SII could be split at that point? I've no idea.
