1959 Morris 1000 convertible full resto

New to the board so thought I would introduce myself and the "Project".
It's a 1959 Morris 1000 convertible proper barn find been dry stored for the last 20 years as a stalled project.
It had been originally blue/grey and then painted red.
Slowly stripping it down into easier bite sized jobs. Engine needs work but have had it turning over on the starter. Head is off at the mo and gasket set on its way.
Panels are slowly coming off ready for prep at some point. Had a new floor fitted at some point. 3 of the wings are fibreglass so will probably replace them with metal at some point during the winter.
I'm not a mechanic but have been messing around with the dark side with my son's classic rover mini which we have finally got up and running properly and I thought why should he have all the fun driving so this is my winter project.
It won't be a concorse restoration but will be a learning project for myself and I will no doubt upset a few with no standard bits to make it into a usable fun car.
Anyway I'll add some photos as we go and any helpful advice much appreciated.
PS have listed a load of unwanted/incompatible bits that I purchased the other day in the For Sale but of the forum, all funds received will be ploughed back into the car (might be the odd beer as well).

Good luck with your project, I’m tackling a 1958 Tourer restoration so it will be interesting to see what challenges you end up facing.
Likewise I’m new to vehicle restoration and learning as I go.
Is it a factory tourer or an aftermarket conversion (if that’s the right way to describe it)?
Will you revert to its original colour or stick with the red finish?
Regarding upsetting a few people with non-standard bits, it’s your car, your rules. Having the vehicle back on the road after being hidden away for 20 yrs is a positive thing I would suggest. I will be making changes to mine to make it safer so I can have my grandchildren on board, things like front disc brakes and rear seatbelts.

I look forward to seeing more pictures as the work progresses.

Good luck. I am gradually restoring my 1969 factory tourer. This is a rolling restoration with the car being used frequently. It will never be concourse standard. Such cars are lovely to look at but they are not practical usable cars. Reminds me of model cars kept in the boxes and not allowed to play with them. What's the point?
