Wheel paint colour and type of paint

Post by ROGER B »

1970 Traveller, smoke grey body. My car has 'cream' wheels that need some touching up. What is the correct colour, and is there an aerosol available in a suitable paint for wheels please?

I have a 1969 convertible in Smoke Grey. The correct wheel colour is silver but my wheels have been Old English White for the whole of my 36 year tenure. I have seen Smoke Grey cars with the correct silver wheels and I have considered changing the colour when my wheels need re-painting but if I am completely honest I don't really think silver wheels look good against Smoke Grey. So if you want a concours car they should be silver but otherwise only change if you actually like that combination.

Plenty of aerosols here, but you need to identify the colour of your wheels first. Quite likely they are OEW, but impossible to tell without seeing them.

Oh perhaps I misunderstood the question! The "cream" is probably OEW. I thought it was a question of what colour the wheels should be for a 1970 car.

Thank you, that is very helpful. My car was restored by Charles Ware years ago and the wheels were almost certainly painted then. I don't suppose he would have used a non-BMC colour, and they look more OEW than Snowberry, so that is what I will go for. If it doesn't match well, I will repaint all four wheels completely. Roger
