Handbrake lever

Post by Blaketon »

My five speed gearbox now has a shortened remote and I could perhaps fit a longer handbrake lever but I don't know how long a standard one is. Would someone please tell me what the standard dimension is compared with that between the two yellow lines on the attached. I presume all standard levers were the same but if not, my car is a 1971 Traveller.

My handbrake used to push the car out of fourth so the stick was bent away to stop it so a longer one my have issues.

The measurement that you require is 8-1/4".
I would be happy to swop your shortened handbrake lever for a standard length lever.
If you are interested send me a PM.
To get over the Minor 1000 handbrake fouling the Ford gear lever I moved my standard length handbrake lever rearwards by about 3".

Many thanks, I will see what difference that makes. I don't think my shortened remote quite puts the lever where is would normally be but I will have a look at where your lever would finish.

I've not forgotten this but trying different clutch master cylinders has been taking priority. Not quite sure what will work brakewise; may need to experiment.
