Clutch adjustment spring

I hope everyone is keeping well. would anyone have any information on the spring on the clutch what is required dimensions wise. I Ireland so not that available I was hoping to pick some pick one up locally if possible

Didn’t know you were in the South.
Maybe someone with a spare can give you the dimension. Unfortunately I can't as my car is in storage and don't have a spare

I'm sure you could adapt a brake shoe spring, its not a "mission critical" part.

The problem is, you don't have the specification for the Spring, it's tensile strength for want of a better term.
What force is required to stretch it a certain distance?

Springs can look physically the same, in their dimensions, but how much resistance do they offer?

I certainly wouldn't consider a Minor brake spring, they are significantly more resistant to being extended.

In simple terms, if you hang a 1lb weight on it, how far does it extend?

6" or 12"

I know it's principally only taking up the slack in the pedal adjustment, but it's still important so you don't want it too weak or too strong.

I just thought if the op had the dimension then he could try a couple locally sourced of different spring rates. It seems from his post that to get it in Eire is prohibitively expensive.
He now has the dimensions and 26 coils, from the picture provided, he could ask the picture poster Panky if he could measure wire thickness

The spring was common in the era, used on many other cars.

There presumably must be some direct classic car support available in the Irish Republic, even if rudimentary.

There were 2 part numbers used for the Minor, 1G 5999 and later AAA 531, if searching online, also try without the space.

They were used on the Classic Mini and the Austin A30/35 for example and I've seen also retailers saying that AAA1628 is suitable for the Minor, even though that appears to be the number for the MG Midget.

I’ve spent the last 30 years just driving cars, but I’ve never done any maintenance or worked on them, so all of this is completely new to me. I really appreciate all the advice and guidance you’ve shared about the Morris Minor clutch springs. I’m mainly trying to keep costs down it adds up when import duties and delivery goes on, That’s why I was trying to see if I could find something locally, maybe through an engineering firm and at the moment there don’t seem to be any Morris Minor clubs near me, and there’s not much information online for Ireland. Well isn't that just dandy, Imgur the image hosting site has just blocked access from the UK hence the blue box in my last post. All images that have been previously posted are no longer visible and access is denied for users - I can't even see the pictures I've uploaded That's a huge problem for those of us that have used Imgur to post on various forums.

Indeed. Apparently Opera search engine has a VPN as standard, for free, but everyone would need to use it to see posts that have already been put out there. I'll investigate and look for another hosting site - or simple download from my PC in future.
