Blue Vinyl Interiors Finally the Right Colour

Post by svenedin »

If any of you have a Minor with a blue interior you may know that for decades Newton Commercial has been making replacement vinyl seat covers and door cards in the wrong shade of blue. Not just a bit wrong but stick out like a sore thumb wrong. The only options have been to try to patch up what you have, to get decent second-hand or to replace the whole interior with new so that it matches.

My driver's seat cover was replaced over 30 years ago due to falling to pieces and it has always been a shade of blue that is too dark. My passenger seat cover has now given up and needs replacing. I was at ESM today and I am pleased to say that Newton Commercial are now making the blue vinyl in a much closer match to the original. This is since earlier this year apparently, 2025, so old stock the wrong colour might still be on shelves. Best to check with the supplier.

Here you can see how bad the match is. The newer cover is much darker but the brand new covers are a good match from what I saw today.

Great picture - your mutt certainly doesn't seem to mind drooling over it! :tu1: I also have a similar problem, having replaced the driver's seat covering in my 1970 Traveller some years ago.
