This is great stuff; very helpful, thanks guys.
On the matter of substituting a self-contained alternator; well, yes, but I have a hatred of new far-Eastern manufactured electronics, so would need to track down a suitable original Lucas alternator and rebuild it.

Alec, ref the ex police register. Get in touch with Simon Mitchell on the forum here (moderator) as he is the main contact for the register as far as I am aware.

Tried that Philip; busy with other things apparently.
I for one never underestimate the time and goodwill given by the volunteers running this and every classic car club, so no wave-making from me.

Completely agree Alec. Everyone running a register or a branch is a volunteer and doing all of this in their own time. On top of that, Simon is also the moderator for this message board and now Company Secretary for the MMOC, so people just need to be patient and appreciative of the time other people spend on Morris Minor related activities.
