Looking for a certain Morris Minor

Post by AndrewJB »

Hi All,

When I was a kid my dad owned a Black Morris Minor 1000 which we stripped down for restoration, After it was stripped and ready for paint it sat for 11 years and was then purchased by somebody who wanted to carry on the restoration, I was just wondering if anybody now knows the owner or knows where the car is? The car reg was SFO 112.

My parents also owned a blue 1 which I don't know the registration of at the moment but will dig out the registration at some point.

According to the DVLA it hasn't been taxed since 1997 so it isn't "on the road" but it could possibly be waiting a restoration somewhere if it still exists?
"SFO" is a re-issued registration, probably follwing on from the sale of the original registration some time before.

Massive update, we think SFO 112 was scrapped in 2022 although dad (deceased) has had no letters to inform him of this.

I was hoping to get the "cherished plate" off it.

What a shame it was scrapped so recently, I thought people recognised these cars as classics now , hope you at least get the reg back , cheers

Classic or not, if it’s rusted away, normally, the cost of repair outweighs the value, more so if the owner can’t, or doesn’t want to do the work themselves.

Fair enough, hopefully some of its parts went to good use beforehand
