In the process of revising my front suspension I found that there was insufficient clearance between the damper and top trunnion. The lack of clearance was compounded by the suspension being lowered by 2".
To get over the problem and restrict the amount of downwards movement a early lower bump stop bracket which has thicker metal (3mm not the current 2mm) was modified by extending the support platform and bolting in place a reprofiled early two bolt Classic Mini bump stop.
The top trunnion forging was also reduced around the eye especially the bottom protrusion.
The SPAX gas damper shroud was also removed.
These modifications now allow the suspension to rise and fall with sufficient clearance.

Phil, what type of paint did you use on your suspension components please, looks pretty hard wearing.

International Yacht paints enamel and the colour is Baltic Blue - code No: 163.
All the suspension components will be finished in Baltic Blue once I have finished all the modifications. The new S/H rear axle casing has already been done and hardened off ready for re-assembly.
I have used International Yacht paints for many years. I used International Yacht paints two pack self etching primer as a base primer but that is no longer available due to usage and environmental concerns. I now use Fertan as the first base coat.
The underside of the car is brush painted in red oxide as I find that it is easier to keep the underside in good order.
The upper side of the car is not as good as I would like it to be but as the car keeps getting regular modifications/upgrades carried out on it there is currently no good reason in spending out on a expensive respray.

Thank for that Phil, I do need to brighten up my van components in the future. I will note the materials for the job. Hope it will look as smart as yours.
