Bifurcated Rivet Sizes for the parcel tray to crashbar.

Post by Chief »

I started the renovation some time ago but things happened and I've since misplaced the originals, so since I'll likely end up having to get new ones so that the old ones turn up....

Does anyone know the rivet sizes that attach the parcel tray to the crash bar? (not the parcel tray to the bulkhead).

Thanks :)

Best of luck with that task. I've not seen them listed by Minor suppliers.
The original items, 33 & 34 on the illustration, are listed as BRP 1206 and BRP 1108 respectively. Quantities being listed as 7 and A/R.

Sometimes searching these original numbers, will produce modern results, but not in this case.

If you measure the hole size, you should be able to find something.
For example, this listing for Copper Rivets on ebay for use on classic Jaguar & Daimler. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284281839610

When I did mine I simply used pop rivets with plain washers. Not original but neat and tidy and the job was finished in no time :)

ESM did mine and also used pop rivets and washers. I have some original copper rivets holding on the sound deadening but some missing and I’ve been meaning to replace them.

I did use bifurcated rivets on mine - but it took two of us to do the job, one inside the car and the other in the engine bay bashing the rivets flat.

Think there's some in an ancient Boots 'Halibut Liver Oil Capsules' tin in my garage. I'll have a look in the morning for you

Thanks for the replies, I've never had much luck with rivets in truth, they never snap properly for me (leave long stalks behind).

Usually caused by wrong size tip in the rivet gun :tu1:

Probably a bit late, but I have some spare bifurcated rivets that I used on my lowlight parcel shelf to crash bar. PM me if you are still looking and I'll send you some. Keith
