What is a star adjusting tool?
They adjust with a standard flat blade screwdriver via the access hole in the drum.

You just need a chunky flat bladed screwdriver. They are quite hard to turn so you need a substantial screwdriver. They are usually called snail-cam adjusters and they look like the picture below. The front brakes have 2x adjusters and the rear brakes have only 1.

If you have the drum off, then a useful tip is to paint the top of the adjuster screw white. It is then much easier to see through the hole in the drum.

I assume they mean a Torx Head, but why you'd need that on a Minor is beyond me.
Past owners may have fitted some newer fasteners in places, but there's no way standard brakes would have a Torx Head on the adjuster, they just weren't made.

It may be a 1970s Morris Minor but has it got a Morris Minor rear axle?

That is a good point! If what has been said makes no sense to the OP then please post a picture of the brakes that you have.philthehill wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 5:44 pm It may be a 1970s Morris Minor but has it got a Morris Minor rear axle?
