Bonnet moulding breakage

Hi,
Some on here may realise this already, so this is intended as a 'heads up' for those who don't.
beware accidently dropping your bonnet mouldings when removed for painting.
I had mine securely mounted, so I thought, ready to have the top surface glossed. Then I moved around them and accidently knocked one off.
The thing is it didn't fall far......
But it obviously didn't need to.......
And it snapped.
I didn't expect that. :-(
Fortunately I have a couple of spare Morris 1000 bonnets with mouldings on, so I had a spare thank God.
But lesson learned, they are obviously more fragile than I anticipated......

Sorry to hear that but at least you have spares. I hadn't realised they are brittle.

They're aluminium rather than steel I believe, though I stand to be corrected.

I don't think they are aluminium. I think they are some kind of 'pot metal', Mazac or something like that......

I agree, they're low quality cast metal, not uncommon in the era our cars are from. That's why the locating lugs break off so easily.
