Convertible rear window

Greetings all, I have a 1967 Morris Minor factory convertible that requires a replacement rear window ( original brittle and cracked!)
Does anybody know if there is anybody out there that replaces the rear window. I can procure the flexible window from that well known internet site but dont feel capable of replacing it myself.

I would suggest Google "vehicle upholstery - vehicle trimmers" in your area. As most good vehicle trimmers/upholsterers will take that sort of work on.

Some will be happy to fit a supplied window but some might not so talk to them before buying anything,

Only thing might be that most good trimmers are normally booked way in Advance,

Many thanks Steve, I have already tried and failed via the Google route. There doesnt appear to be anybody within 100mls that are willing to undertake the work. I might have to go down the complete new hood road. Thanks once again for your reply.

I think it might make sense to get a complete new hood particularly if the existing hood is past its best. The reason for this is that there's quite a lot of work to take the hood off and refit it. A new window can't be sewn in with the hood on the car. That will mean labour cost are high.

It is the sort of thing that people who make boat canopies and covers do on a regular basis. Where would the nearest be? Perhaps in Grimsby or Immingham?

Ah yes I know Louth. I worked at Cranwell for a bit and as a bell ringer, Lincoln Cathedral is not to be missed.

I tried google but I didn't find anything more than you did. What you could do is phone around classic car garages in your area and ask them who does their upholstery and hood repairs. It is possible (with two people) to remove the hood still attached to the frame. You could then take the whole lot to be repaired. This assumes you have a garage to keep the car dry in the meantime.

Thank you all for your assistance, I think I have now found a classic car restoration garage in Newark who have shown an interest in completing the work. I will keep you updated on here how it all turns out.
