Auto gearbox

Post by Simon Slocombe »

For a variety of reasons I may have to sell my 1275 engined Traveller, unless I can convert it to an automatic. Has anyone any experience of this, is it even possible? Any help and advice gratefully received.

Don't know if this helps as many marina bits used in minor conversions.

There is a forum member here who has an automatic minor. His traveller uses a Toyota auto box behind a 1098. We did some work for him a couple of years ago when the flex plate broke up. The problem here is finding an 80s Toyota or Nissan that's rear wheel drive with a donor auto box.

There will be other rwd auto boxes around but most will be physically big and anything modern will be full of electronics.

Thanks Steve. Someone else I know mentioned a Toyota auto conversion but had forgotten where they had seen it, and like you said, finding one these days will be the problem.

Simon.
