Sub-zero here as in much of the UK. Way too cold to do any work in the garage or the garden.
Thought I'd get out the labelling machine and sort bits and bobs into decent plastic boxes. The idea is that this will save me the time I always waste hunting for things. Mind you, I can (and do) "lose" the tool in my hand on a regular basis.....
This is a bit like the Victorian gardening books that always had lists of jobs to do when the weather was absolutely foul or the ground was frozen solid. Sharpening tools, tidying, sorting etc.

Nice to see your organisation skills Stephen, I have the same tendency. However I also try to throw at least one item away, when I visit the shed or garage. Hopefully this will enable whoever, to get a smaller skip when I’ve gone !

I do worry about that. Although I'm not planning on going anytime soon you never know. I would hate to think clearing all my stuff (a lifetime of collecting things) was a burden on others but I would also be very sad if much of it ended up in a skip. Still I wouldn't be around to worry.....

I worked on my Morris yesterday as I had to fit a new starter motor an it was an easier job than I thought it was going to be which was nice for a change as normally everything takes ten times longer than normal.

Only two bolts and one electrical connection. An easy job for once. Much easier with the distributor out of the way actually. Like so many jobs it depends on whether the fixings are rusted and seized. It's like taking off the front panel. For some, this is a nightmarish job because there are a lot of fixings and if you have to fight with every single one it's just awful. If on the other hand, everything undoes easily it's fine. When I was a teenager an old mechanic taught me the basics. He had 2x Morris 8s. He told me to use copper grease on practically every fixing so that next time the job was much easier. I did not even have to remove the distributor just two bolts that hold it on a nut for the cable and two connections all done in less than hour and the bolts that hold it on where easy to undo which I thought might have been rusty.

I finished my engine bay strip down (which also involved stripping out the dashboard and heater on the other side of the bulkhead). Agree. Very chilly. Not pleasant!

I struggled in a cold garage this weekend having to refit the front end of my brother's 2015 Ford Fiesta back together following front end repairs after a 'mate' of his borrowed it and managed to tear off the front bumper, dislodge the bonnet hinges, etc.
What a PITA working on modern cars can be! So many awkward to get at, fiddly fixings, etc.
