Gauges and USB Power

Post by gucu »

Hi

I want to add some gauges to help monitor my tired engine. I'm going to add a temperature and oil pressure gauges. Any thoughts please? I was going to buy them from ESM along with this mount:

I need USB power so I thought something like this:

Has anybody done something different or is there an alternative please?

Thanks

Rich

I'd go for a ubiquitous cigarette lighter socket and something like this...

All the products mentioned look fine. Consider whether you want ot eh socket switched by igniotion or permanently live and wore accordingly ensuring proper protection with correct fuses and wiring.

I can understand the usb port but gauges, it’s a Morris Minor, :D presumably in standard tune. Relax and enjoy, there’s a couple of warning lamps if there are any issues !

Never felt the need for additional gauges myself. Makes more sense to me to watch the road, instead of a load of dials - especially with the volume of traffic and crazy drivers about these days!

To each their own but I prefer gauges, by the time oil light comes on its too late and like to keep an eye on temp. For what it's worth advice IMHO:
Use copper line to oil guage not plastic.
Make sure supply to accessories socket is fused at power connection point and from battery rather than old original wires.
I have mine permanently live but do have battery master switch off when not in use.
