Interchange?
Can a body of a MM van be interchanged with a MM pick-up? Thanks
Re: Interchange?
People do try to convert the van to look like a pick up, the top part of the van side are usually cut off, the difficulty comes when fabricating the cappings for the top of the cut down sides. Barely is this done exactly. The pickup cab back will fit, however if a canvas tilt is required wooden strips for the cab roof are needed as indeed hooks positioned correctly, for the sides, to secure said tilt.
Re: Interchange?
The chassis and cab (excluding back) are the same for both. If you have a complete vehicle of one type and the complete back of the other, then it's "just" a question of undoing and refitting loads of bolts and other bits. The original LCV body parts list shows how it's basically a big Mecanno kit.

AKD3575, covers all LCV, from start during SII to very end.simmitc wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 4:54 pm The chassis and cab (excluding back) are the same for both. Along with AKD 3574, the LCV Mechanical Service parts.
They are available to download on a few enthusiast websites.

Re: Interchange?
Perhaps I have misread the original post, I think Simon has given the more appropriate answer. Yes, given the required parts from both types they are interchangeable.

Re: Interchange?
I don't know what you're commenting on Les.

Simon commented
I gave the relevant book number so that Chicken could do further comparisons if they wished to, and perhaps increase their knowledge of how the various parts were related.

I understood the OP.
I understood Les's reply.
I posted with a different interpretation.
I understood Berni's helpful reply with the reference number.
I understood Les's next comment.
Now I'm completely confused by Berni's last post

Re: Interchange?
The perils of posting on-line... perhaps we're all confused and should just go up the garage instead...
