Hi everyone I’m wonder if anyone could help with a few questions I have about reupholstering,
Although my moggy is a 1958 cabriolet the current seats look to be from 1964-71 model so i want to recover both front and rear seats I’m happy to go with the current design but if I wanted to change it to the Duotone design for example would they fit my model/year?

Re: Replacement upholstery
The seats changed throughout the Series III range and even between 4 door and 2 door.
My 1957 4 door in common with other 4 doors in certain colours had seats similar in style and construction to later Series II cars. Later Series III cars had similar bases to later cars ie strap and foam as opposed to solid base and dunlopillow foam. The backs however think are shaped differently to later cars.
I would imagine that someone like Newton Commercial or similar, could make covers for your car seats in whatever cover material style you want. Duo tone were, I think, made for 1962-64 cars.
The Newton Commercial site may assist you.

Re: Replacement upholstery
I fitted duotone covers to my 1965 model, even though the duotone option was as mentioned above discontinued in 1964. If you are not too puritanical the duotone option looks particularly good and the covers are easy to fit.

Re: Replacement upholstery
That does assume that the 1958 and 1964 / 5 seat frames are the same shape.

Re: Replacement upholstery
They are not exactly the same. Newton Commercial will be aware of the differences I'm sure but, if ordering a new set of trim to fit your later frames, you need to make them aware aware of your exact requirements. The trim panels and seat covers on later cars are a different shape as well as a different style. Earlier covers will not fit later frames.
