Non standard

Post by Dougie212 »

So.. I seem to be back and forth on here with one problem then another…

In another post I asked about a non standard cylinder head bolt/stud/bodge…..

Now… while I’m working out reassembling, I’m thinking that the throttle cable bracket, which isn’t attached to the manifold on my car - may have been another bodge…

Pic attached - but just looking for someone to confirm my suspicions.

I’ve tried looking for the bracket and ESM seem to be out of stock. If it is a bodge, I’d quite like to put back together with the proper bracket.

Right bracket - wrong stud.
The bracket needs to be move to the next stud forward and the swivel fitted to the side of the bracket giving the best alignment.

Hi all..

Just after some more help from this thread I created. I’ve added a pic below.. can I just confirm that the throttle cable bracket I have needs moving forward to the stud with the red arrow please?

I’ve not properly tried but it just seems like it’ll be a tight fit - but I totally get why it should be there if that’s the case because the path of the cable suggests that’s where it should be.

Advice as always greatly appreciated

Now that you have shown a full photo of the carb and manifold I can see that you need the accelerator cable bracket that fits between the HS2 carb mounting flange and the manifold. The mount bracket is Pt No: 12A353.
The mount bracket is similar to that in the link below.

Your accelerator cable needs to be replaced and the fuel pump mount bolt tightened.

Thanks Phil!!

It’s an old pic. Ive got a new accelerator cable ready to fit.

Do I still require the bracket on the manifold stud too? Or will the bracket in the link replace that??

Thanks as always!!

The bracket in the link is all that is required with new gaskets of course.
The original bracket can be discarded.

Hi,
My car (late 1969) appears to have the same carb as yours with the engine breather hose connection (top right of your photo). Here’s a photo of the bracket Phil provided the link to so you can see how it fits. I tucked the breather hose out of the way so you can see it more clearly.
Hope it helps,
Phil (a different one!)
