anyone swapped in a triumph spitfire 1300 motor?
will this unit mate up to minor gear box? prop mods?
What rear axle is best.
As ive been offered the motor for free!

I don't think the spit motor will mate with the minor gearbox, however it will mate fairly easily with a ford type 9 box (ask at mgcars.org on the bbs about it...) and then have a propshaft made (no big deal - they arn't that expensive)
You would have to make new engine mounts, and possibly do something different with the radiator etc.
hope that's some help! (I am assuming the 1300 is about the same size as a 1500 in a midget....)

I think they are very similair/ same block so should be like the midget engine
But for what it will cost to rengineer the gearbox and prop you could probably find a 1275 A and bolt it pretty much straight in

I think it was Russ Smith at Practical Classics who ran a Traveller with a spitfire engine in it, but that was a few years ago.

Triumph engine is nowhere near as strong as the A series. It's lot of work to do all that conversion - I think the exhaust is on the wrong side etc - just get a decent A series.
