Starter motor spring

I've just discovered the spring in my starter motor is broken. Where can you buy this separately? I can't find it.

How would you remove it? The retaining clip doesn't have an obvious way to remove it.

You have to compress the spring before you can remove the circlip and the proper way to remove the spring is with a Sykes Pickavant Bendix spring compressor Pt No: JWP 376. Any attempt to remove the spring without the tool is dangerous and liable to cause injury. There is a lot of pent up energy in the fitted Bendix spring.
Be aware there is a larger Sykes Pickavant Bendix spring compressor Pt No: JWP366 which is not suitable for your Bendix spring .
Pt No: JWP 376 is the one you want.

I've bought a 2nd hand starter motor from someone so I can get the car back together asap but I will order that and a spring so I have a spare motor. 135041617489 is the Ebay number for a NOS lucas spring. Is that the correct one?

Before giving the details in my post above I checked the given measurements of the spring in the link against a NOS Minor 1000 Bendix spring I have and the measurements are the same. I also tried the NOS Minor 1000 Bendix spring in the Sykes Pickavant spring compressor and it fitted just right.
So to answer both questions the Bendix spring in the link is the correct one and the Sykes Pickavant spring compressor Pt No: JWP376 is the right tool for the job.
