Hello All
Need to rebuild my bottom end on my Fiat 1.8 T/C as it low on number 4 cylinder 70psi others on 120 psi and its causing a misfire lack of power.
where's the best place to buy the parts for this that are not going to have your pants down and grease you up, top ends been done by the pervious owner 2 years ago so it only the bottom as I have pressurized the cylinder and can hear air coming out of the rocker cover cap and dip stick tube tube.
Cheers Mark

Doesn't sound very bottom end to me. I would be taking the head off.

Please tell us why you think that.paul 300358 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 5:14 pm Doesn't sound very bottom end to me. I would be taking the head off.
I expect the head will need to be removed anyway, but losing air pressure like the OP states rather more likely indicates air going by the piston/rings?

Exactly, so it's no good looking at the bottom end (crank and ends)

Top end is head and valve gear. Bottom end is block and components. Or do you call this middle end?

Dunno, I must admit that I never thought about it.

Re: fiat T/C engine rebuild
I've always thought of 'bottom end' as the bottom end of the conrod, I.e. mains and big ends. Top end is small end/pistons. Both 'ends' are in the block.
Above that, head and valve gear.

Sorry, but I think you need to change your thoughts. I dunno where you got those from.
You are not following the historical convention, where the two parts are as I described.

What about on a bike, the head and barrels are the the top the crank and ends is the bottom.
