added Servo now no brakes
Hi all
I am having problems bleeding my new brake system. I have replaced the master cylinder and added a servo and I just cannot get the brakes to bleed.
having tried all the ways I know to bleed the system furthest to nearest, cracking the out end of the servo, with Ezibleed without Ezibleed, hand brake on and off, with seal out of master cylinder with seal back in. the system bleeds through showing no air present but still no peddle.
After three and a half litres of brake fluid I am out of ideas and getting desperate. Any help would be most welcome so its over to you.
thanking you in advance.
Best regards Mike.

Check out this out about mastercylinder having too deep recess for pushrod.

When you say no brakes what exactly do you mean
Does the pedal just sink to the floor as if there’s still air in the system ?

Bill's link goes part way down the page for some reason. Go to the start and all will become clear.Bill_qaz wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 11:24 pm Check out this out about mastercylinder having too deep recess for pushrod.

The New MC which I purchased had a deeper hole for the push rod, so it just wasn't working...

Re: added Servo now no brakes
hi all
Thanks for all the info and when I say no brakes yep peddle sinks to the floor. I will check out the hole depth in the mc but my first plan for to day is to isolate the mc and see if i can get a peddle if so add in the servo and isolate then back brakes and so on.
I will post the results but any other ideas are more than welcome.
Thanks again and best regards Mike

Good spot never noticed, I think it because I used the search of master cylinder to find your post and it references to the search rather than your post. Another forum idiosyncrasy no doubt.geoberni wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 11:50 amBill's link goes part way down the page for some reason. Quite honestly, your problem sounds so much like what I had after fitting the new MC, I'd check it first.miker519 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 1:46 pm hi all

Easy enough to just poke something down the middle to check the depth; I've given you the respective measurements. Take you a couple of minutes rather then messing with isolating the MC pipework.

Re: added Servo now no brakes
Hi Mike,
Ive got same sort of problem as you.
Odd thing is, I can pump up pedal, as though there is air in system.
I get a solid pedal, let off pedal and when I try it 30 secs later, the pedal goes to floor?
Ive bled it lots, so not sure that's problem?
Its a new master cylinder, and ive noticed that there isnt any support for the main internal working seal, this seems poor design ( not like the original)?
Have you made any progress with yours?
Think mine needed a bit of resistance on the outlet of cylinder to get working, bit odd?
How do you Eeziblled it, is that by sucking through the nipple , or pressure from master cylinder?
If MC , where did you get the adaptor?
Any advice/ help anyone ,for me too would be V grateful:)

Re: added Servo now no brakes
I use Eeezibleed from a spare tyre at 18p.s.i..
I bought a used Lockheed cap off eBay which I modified to use the Eezibleed. I've had the Eezibleed for a long time. £9.75 back then.

Re: added Servo now no brakes
Hi all
I did think that I had posted this yesterday but it seems to have disappeared into the text message pit of doom so here goes Mk2
first off thanks to all for the comments, suggestions, and help full info its all very helpful to a newbie,
The good news is that I have got it sorted and as the oracle (wife) said when you find it it will be something simple.
So this is what I did.
1. Isolated the M/Cyl with a bleed nipple = firm pedal = M/Cyl OK
2. Reconnect M/C isolate Servo discharge with different bleed nipple = firm pedal = Servo OK
3. Reconnect to brake line bleed system = pedal flat to floor = fault somewhere in brake system.
4. Isolate front r/h calliper with flex hose clamp = firm pedal ? remove clamp pedal flat to floor.
5. isolate front l/h calliper and rear brakes with clamp pedal flat to floor = problem r/h front calliper?
6. R/H front calliper has bleed nipple at bottom of calliper re bleed = calliper flat to floor
7. Remove calliper flex hose bracket and calliper, tip calliper upside down wedging pads apart bleed air out of calliper reassemble = firm pedal = job done!
Left hand calliper fitted to the right hand side.
So Two days to find the fault half an hour to fix it. Does this sound familiar or is it just Me?
And I am now also in the market for a right hand Marina brake calliper to replace the left hand one that is fitted on the drivers side.
Please contact me if you have a serviceable spare right hand Marina brake calliper that you would be willing to part with on 07340893312
I hope that this information is of help to others and saves them the time that it cost me.
Thanks again for all the help
Best regards Mike Roden

Re: added Servo now no brakes
That's an excellent mod. Did you use something like Araldite or some other epoxy resin under the cap to seal it?
I've have an Eezibleed kit but despite having an almost completely flat tyre to get the system pressured with, I always end up with brake fluid leaking all over the engine bay. Not on a Minor I admit but still.

Re: added Servo now no brakes
I just added some clear silicone sealant on the underside. I have thought of replacing the silicone with epoxy but it's not broken so I'll not try to fix it - as the saying goes. When in use it's pressurised so minimal risk of that ending up in the m/c. The pressure should tend to force the silicone upwards.rocco wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 11:16 amThat's an excellent mod. I can't remember the drill size used for the hole but the connector just screwed in and created it's own thread. I suspect I used a thread sealant of some kind?
I also removed the round plate from under the cap too.
