I know what you mean, I think it's the combination of Colours, Chrome and the 'Bodged.'

Mike Dean posted these photos to the fb group some 3-4 weeks ago after he spotted it....
I'd say it's proof that if you personalise anything too much whether a house or a car, don't expect it to sell easily because you'll often find that what 'Rocks your Boat' will sink other people's....

That's spot on Berni. People don't mind modifications per se e.g disc brakes,alternator etc but I think 'styling' is a very different and individual thing. Paint jobs, chrome, interiors and the like can be a very personal thing and usually divide opinion. There have been quite a few customised/personalised Minors come up for sale on eBay over the last year or so and they have struggled to sell at even lowish prices, thus pretty much proving what you say.

A good question.
Cuba was dominated by the USA until Castro took power in 1959, with US sanctions being applied from 1960.
We do trade with Cuba, how much and what sort of trade it historically was, I've not discovered....

A quick google shows a few Minors in Cuba. Even an early car. No idea what's under the (short) bonnet though.

It’s the automotive equivalent of drag. Not for me but there’ll be someone out there that will find it attractive.

Might be a good project to turn it back into a bog standard series 2

I'm all in favour of personalising or accessorising your classic with period appropriate bits and bobs but in this case I think the chrome work makes the car look a bit bloated and the wheel arch skirts look like they've been nailed on!
I fondly remember fitting the ubiquitous push on wheel trims to my Ford Anglia in 1972 and only having one left after a week, the other three having frisbeed down the road to destruction!
