Restoration of Moggy Van - door opening
Hi , hoping someone can help me out. Just started back on my Minor Van restoration. Have welded in new door pillar, hung replacement door, closing fine. Have clamped in new panels, ie half floor & sill. When closing door it is catching on sill finisher. Prior to stripping down there were no sill finishers fitted. I am wondering if my floor needs moving down slightly. I have measured between the top of sill lip & bottom of lip on top of door frame as marked on attached picture ( where door seals fit ) to be 955mm. I am hoping someone will kindly measure there van / pickup please. Steve.

Re: Restoration of Moggy Van - door opening
I haven’t measured from the top of the lips, because my cill cover hides the lip, however I attach a sketch with measurement included. It’s from the flat area under the gutter to the top of the lower box section, measured from the same point that you measured from.
Re: Restoration of Moggy Van - door opening
Thanks Les, Ive measured the same point as your sketch & only have 981mm . The extra 4mm will make the door close better etc etc. Very much appreciated, thank you. P.S. the rough corner post is existing & will be getting cut out & replaced. I will put more photos on as I progress. cheers
Re: Restoration of Moggy Van - door opening
Regarding the corner post, there is a replacement section available, however unless things have improved, this repair section is much wider than it should be, perhaps they measured another vehicle! I was fortunate to find the bottom part of an original pillar, when doing mine.
Good luck with the project.
Good luck with the project.
Re: Restoration of Moggy Van - door opening
Hi Les, yes I bought a couple of repair corners, they were fairly short, much later ESM had a longer pattern available so I purchased 2 of those. They didn’t seem very thick compared to all other panels which were Hadrian - good quality. I think I’ll have to make up a short piece of post to weld in above the new panel get onto good metal. I halted on the project for a while to carry out some work on my house but this should get me back into it. Thanks again.
