Each to there own, TBH been after Simonsen GRP shells and they are just too much money, these with a little upholstery fettling will do the job and a 5th of the price too....

Update:

Broke the bug, front beam snapped (after driving back late from Yeovil in the rain, BANG, pulled across road and veered towards central island, thankfully counter swerved into Haynes motor museum, and saved by the local security), replaced all now, including lowered spindles with new Limebug beam, very nice, have front disc brakes now too (still want to upgrade to Porsche 944 hubs and disc with Boxster calipers), still need bedding and bleeding, but at least it stops!
some images of bug update:
Interior new seats, door and rear cards, finished front end horns/spot lights etc. and new wing mirror, might make a new rear view mirror too.

Moggy is now in center of shop again, as i build the front end, cleared a load of parts, some still left, body parts and a set of steel wheels still to go, will list later.

more images, also, 1600 blueprinted mock up, Hoover case modification, head work, 3angle valve cut and valve dress, port match and polish exhaust, drill tapped oil for full flow, modified rockers arms, and Hoover mod to arms/rockers and oil ways, the new 3D printed stack should work a treat, the internals are the same as golf ball exterior surface!

Been a while, poor health, COVID decimating the design industry, personal challenges, alternative goals, and life changes.

As such, my Bug I bought post COVID, now needs a re-pan, and I am not doing it lightly, ooh no, so will be full refurb, IRS, Porsche 944 rear ally Arms, big 5 disc and twin calipers on rear, Rear coil overs, twin gearbox hard fixing, to include a Kafer 5 bar link, front will be Jaw Breaker beam, with 944 ally hubs, Porsche vented and drilled disc, with Wilwood 4 pot calipers, Porsche 944 twin brake master, twin fuel lines for EFI, new brake lines and all flexy to be stainless from Earls. This as you can imagine entails moving the shop around, which mean's the moggy will pulled from the depths of the shop and moved into the new unit!

The moggy needs, rear tubs and sill finishing, painting then assembling, everything I have, so to the start of another journey whilst the fun of the bug gets mothballed until its done and done right.

Met up with Tony from Barton Garage, he's going to take up the challenge to complete the assembly of my Guy Croft Lancia Volumex Twin cam, which is a massive weight off my shoulders, I have an offer for a spray job, although i'd prefer to spray internals, engine and boot area, and underside, assemble car, shake down for a year, then paint, so will see about that.

Let's see where the fun take's me, be good to close something out too. :D :D
